Welcome to Hey Jesus. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Hey Jesus app and website (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

About the Service

Hey Jesus is a Christian companion app that points you toward Jesus, offering wisdom drawn from the Gospels, comfort, and prayer. It is a tool for reflection and encouragement. Hey Jesus is not a person, is not Jesus, and does not speak on behalf of God or any church. Responses are generated by software and may be inaccurate or incomplete.

Spiritual Companion Disclaimer

Content provided through Hey Jesus is for spiritual encouragement and general reflection only. It is not professional, medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from a pastor, counselor, or other qualified professional. You are responsible for how you act on anything you read or hear through the Service.

Not for Emergencies

Hey Jesus is not a crisis, emergency, or safety service. Do not rely on it in situations involving danger, self-harm, or medical emergencies. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately.

Device, Wi-Fi, and Subscription

  • The Hey Jesus device requires a home Wi-Fi connection to operate. Without an active internet connection, the companion features will not work.
  • A subscription is required to keep the companion features active. Early-access devices include a period of first-tier subscription (currently 6 months); after that period, a paid subscription is required to continue. Subscription pricing and terms will be presented to you before any paid activation or renewal.
  • Hardware, features, and included content may change as the product develops. We will describe what is included before you complete a purchase.

Early Access, Reservations, and Deposits

  • Joining the waitlist or reserving a device does not by itself create a binding purchase. It expresses your interest and, where offered, holds your place in line.
  • A reservation deposit (currently $5) may be requested to hold an early-access spot. Final purchase terms, total price, taxes, shipping, and any applicable refund terms will be presented to you before checkout, and you will have the opportunity to review them before you are charged the balance.
  • Early-access pricing, included subscription length, timelines, and availability are estimates and may change. Product timelines in particular can shift; we aim to communicate changes clearly.

Accounts and Devices

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
  • A device or app installation may be linked to your account so the Service works as intended. You are responsible for the devices you connect.
  • You may request deletion of your account and data at any time. See our Account & Data Deletion page.

Acceptable Use

When using Hey Jesus, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose.
  • Harass, threaten, or harm others, or attempt to use the Service to do so.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service except as permitted by law.
  • Misrepresent the Service as a licensed professional, a religious authority, or an emergency resource.

Text Messages (SMS)

If you opt in to text messages, you agree to receive recurring automated promotional and personalized marketing text messages from Hey Jesus at the mobile number you provide. The following terms apply:

  • Consent is not a condition of purchase. You do not have to agree to receive texts in order to reserve or buy a device.
  • Message frequency varies.
  • Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan and carrier.
  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a message from us. Reply HELP for help.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Your consent to receive texts is separate from any consent to receive email, and either can be withdrawn without affecting the other.

Payments

Where paid features, reservations, deposits, or subscriptions are offered, the applicable pricing and terms will be presented to you before you are charged. Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers; your use of those services may also be subject to their terms.

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its name, design, and content we provide, is owned by Hey Jesus or its licensors and is protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Hey Jesus is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Changes to the Service and These Terms

We may update the Service or these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
